EEPEK is a key contributor to the goals of Erasmus+ and other European Programmes, with its members bringing over 25 years of expertise in projects spanning research, lifelong learning, and teacher training. Through its participation in EU projects, EEPEK fosters European and international partnerships and networks, advancing the professional development of educators and contributing to the realization of the European Education Area.

More specifically, EEPEK can undertake activities related to:

  • Educational research, learning design, and implementation, using digital education technologies as well as innovative learning approaches such as AI-assisted education, STEAM methodologies, Art-based teaching and Outdoor education.
  • Designing and delivering structured training courses (including hybrid and distance learning courses).
  • Coordinating extensive pilot testing for the evaluation of the produced educational material and teaching methodologies.
  • Building and supporting learning communities, as well as communities of practice, with the ability to develop tailored platforms for these communities, leveraging its extensive experience in creating and managing digital collaboration environments.
  • Dissemination of project outcomes, including dissemination events, publications, and media outreach.

Current Projects 

Inkscape Innovators – Merging Green Skills and Creativity in Vocational Education

InkscapeThe InkScape Innovators project aims to integrate green skills and creativity into VET education through comics. The objectives are: O1: Develop green skills and sustainability awareness by reimagining literature using green technologies. O2: Foster creativity and innovation by blending vocational training with digital storytelling. O3: Increase the attractiveness of VET programs by incorporating creative arts and digital tools. O4: Promote digital skills through hands-on comic design software.

The InkScape Innovators project includes four main activities: 1. Kick-off meeting and educator workshop in Greece. 2. VET students will reimagine literature pieces by adding green elements in classes, followed by an online student conference. 3. A comics creation workshop in Portugal where VET students will develop alternative scenes for green skills. 4. Public awareness campaigns and a final exhibition and workshops at EEPEK’s International Conference.

eugrewThe EU-GREW project concerns the European Green Deal priority, focusing on educational activities aiming at the activation of citizens to support the Green Deal agenda, and deal with the effects of climate change on our rights as well as the impact of the war in Ukraine and its interconnection with the postponement of the implementation of decisions and actions to address climate change that undermines our prosperity, our freedom.

Valoriser les biographies langagières (Promoting language biographies) – VABIOLA

vabiolaThe VABIOLA project aims to enhance learners' language biographies by integrating recognition of plurilingualism and intercultural skills into education. Through an application, training and targeted communication, Vabiola promotes inclusive education, valuing all languages and strengthening civic engagement. The application helps students analyze their learning path, and contributes to the recognition of European and international mobility.

Activities include the development of new functionalities for an educational application, the creation of training modules and courses for education professionals, and dissemination and communication actions. These activities aim to encourage learner autonomy, the inclusion of plurilingualism, and intercultural skills. They are designed to strengthen social cohesion, encourage mobility and exchanges, and respond to societal challenges.

The project’s consortium includes 11 organizations from France, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Belgium. Project coordinator is GIP-FIPAG (France).

ERASMUS+ Accreditation

EEPEK has received accreditation in the Adult Education sector, for Key Action 1, with accreditation number:2020-1-EL01- KA120-ADU-094746.

eepekaccreditationThe accreditation spans a period of the seven years of ERASMUS+ (i.e. 2021-2027), includes more than 15 mobilities that will be implemented in five phases (five KA121-ADU plans, each of duration of 15-24 months) where over 110 Adult Educators of EEPEK, that are involved in EEPEK seminars planning are expected to attend high-quality structured courses. Our accreditation is linked to the following objectives:

  1. Modern Methods of Evaluation: Implement innovative methodologies for evaluating educational programs and institutions, aiming to enhance the quality of training provided by the organization.
  2. Identification of Educational Needs: Conduct research to identify contemporary training needs of educators, ensuring alignment with current educational trends and challenges.
  3. Customized Training Programs: Design flexible and adaptable training programs tailored to individual educators' needs, supported by a MOOC platform.
  4. Development of Horizontal Skills: Establish a modular curriculum to develop skills such as communication, empathy, creativity, time management, and adaptability.
  5. Application of Cutting-Edge Educational Technologies: Promote the use of technologies like augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), robotics, and sensor networks in educational contexts.
  6. Integration of Arts in Education: Utilize art (e.g., theater, role-playing) to foster creativity and enhance teaching methods across disciplines.
  7. Intercultural Education: Prepare educators to work effectively in multicultural environments, promoting inclusivity and understanding in diverse educational settings.

EEPEK’s research team includes experienced education professionals, specialised in a variety of disciplines (e.g. Natural and Formal Sciences, Humanities and Arts, Social Sciences, Technology), with solid knowledge of the state-of-the-art digital learning and collaboration tools.

Dimitris Kolokotronis

Dr Dimitris Kolokotronis is a founding member and Chairman of the Administrative Board of EEPEK since 2014. He holds a PhD in Informatics and teaching methodologies, B.Sc. degree in Physics, MSc degree from the Department of Computer Science of the University of Sheffield (UK), MA degree in Adult Education Studies and MBA degree in School Management. He has been working as an Information Technology teacher in Secondary Education for more than 18 years and as a School Advisor of Informatics in Central Greece for 11 years. At the same time, he has been a part time Professor in Technological Educational Institutes and Universities for more than 20 years.
He has written over 100 papers for scientific journals and International and National conferences’ proceedings. Furthermore, he is an author of 5 books about Informatics in Education and has participated in several teams that formulated educational material for teaching National Curriculum in Information Technology. Additionally, he has participated in 8 large Research Programs (teamwork) by University of Thessaly. His current interests include modern educational technologies, innovative teaching methodologies and learning communities.

Costas Stathopoulos

Costas Stathopoulos is currently the Secretary General of the Administrative Board of EEPEK. Since 2014, he coordinates EEPEK’s National and European project activities and is the Technical Manager of the e-Learning platform of EEPEK.
Mr. Stathopoulos holds a B.Sc. from the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete, and a M.Sc. in Digital Communications and Networks, from the same department. Between 1993 and 2001, he worked as a research assistant and, from 1996, as a research associate and project manager, in projects of the FP3-RACEII and FP4-ACTS EU Programmes.
He has worked in multinational project consortia, co-authored over 30 project deliverables and research papers, organized project events and meetings, and participated in project audits in the EU. He has worked as a Network Management Specialist and Instructor, as a Technical Manager in the Telecoms sector, and as a part-time Lecturer in Higher Education Institutes.
Mr. Stathopoulos is a certified Adult Education Instructor and his current interests include e-learning design, digital education technologies and tools, gamification and use of robotics in education, and self-organized learning environments.

Calliope Anagnostopoulou

Dr. Calliope Anagnostopoulou holds a BA in Political Science from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, an MSc in Comparative and European Politics and a PhD in EU Policies on European languages from the University of Crete.
In the last twelve years, she has served as Head of Educational and Administrative Departments in the Regional Directorates of Primary and Secondary Education in the Prefecture of Larissa.
She has worked in the private sector on the scheduling of the National Television Program and the SuperSport channel. Since December 2018, she has been working on the administration of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Greece, as a PhD candidate, at the Ionian University.
Dr. Anagnostopoulou has written and managed many European projects (Erasmus+, Grundtvig, Leonardo) on behalf of public institutions, such as the Regional Directorate of Education of Thessaly, the Directorate of Primary Education of Larissa and the Municipality of Agia. Currently, she is the Project Manager, of project STEPS, an ERASMUS+ KA2 project coordinated by EEPEK.
She is an elected member of the central council of employees of the regional structures of the Ministry of Education of Greece.

Dimitris Liovas

Dimitris Liovas is a founding member and Vice President of the Administrative Board of EEPEK. Ηe is the head of the Training Committee of EEPEK since 2014. He is head of Informatics & New Technologies Office of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Larissa.
He holds a BSc in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a M.Sc. in Modern Learning Environments and Production of Instructive Material from University of Thessaly, Department of Primary Education, and a M.Ed in Adult Learning from the Hellenic Open University.
Distance adult education, management of European Programs, and the research in innovative teaching methods are some of his current interests. He has worked for the European action Programs Erasmus+, Pegasus and Leonardo Da Vinci (associate research scientist). He has written more than 30 papers for scientific journals, national and International conferences’ proceedings.
Over the last 7 years, he has been responsible for organizing, planning and implementing more than 150 distance learning training programs for EEPEK. He has also organized many International Conferences about Educational Innovation, several hundreds of hours of seminars, many European programs, students’ festivals and competitions.

Ilias Liakos

Ilias Liakos is a founding member and Treasurer of the Administrative Board of EEPEK. Since 2014, he is responsible for the design and implementation of the various Information Systems of EEPEK. He is in charge of the financial management of all EEPEK activities (memberships, event organization, National and EU projects etc.).
He holds a BSc in Applied Informatics and an MSc in Information Systems and he has been working as an Information Technology teacher in Secondary Education for more than 17 years. At the same time, he was a part time Professor in Technological Educational Institutes for 10 years and for 7 years he was working as a Technical Manager in the Center for Informatics & New Technologies of Primary and Secondary Education of Larissa. Nowadays, he works in the Directorate of Secondary Education of Larissa.
His current interests include web design, design and implementation of web-based Information Systems, modern educational and teaching methodologies and learning communities.
